“A lot of people don’t actually know me. A lot people know of me, but don’t know me because I feel like, as messed up as it sounds it’s a way of protecting your energy. Everybody isn’t ready to know you. ” – Kovu
Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,
Today I will be sharing with you all an interview I did with the charismatic, funny and creative visionary Kovu! I met Kovu by attending and performing at Black Xpression. Kovu hosts from time to time and also is the Director of Black Xpression open mic and the overall platform. Black Xpression is an open mic that occurs every Friday at 8pm at La Bodega Gallery in Logan Heights (San Diego, CA). It is more than an open mic it is a family and a very supportive crowd! You get all types of talents and skill levels. From poets, singers, rappers, comedians, dancers and more! It is the place to be on Friday nights, so if you are around the San Diego area drop by! It is only a $5 cover (only $5 dollars?!)! I actually performed a poem/song there for the first time last year and performed many times after that. Black Xpression is also doing great things for the community. They throw events and are helping San Diego artists get the resources they need to succeed in their craft! Kovu dropped some gems, we also discussed Black Xpression and its positive impact in the community and more! PLEASE LISTEN TO THE INTERVIEW BELOW:
Thank you Kovu for your time and being open to do this interview! I truly appreciate you!!! I see you got a real entrepreneur vision for your community, keep at it King!
