Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,
Today I will be reviewing Jesse Reyez new album, “Before Love Came to Kill Us”. We get the return of Jesse’s raspy soulful voice, that is reminiscent of the legendary Amy Winehouse. The albums consists of Spanglish tracks filled with pure emotions. The main theme is heartbreak and love! One of my favorite tracks is “Deaf (who are you)” it’s that spiteful track. Vibe of a woman scorned going off! Then you get “Intruders” with a dope guitar riff. You also get the amazing collabo with 6black, “Imported”. One of my favorite tracks with one of my favorite lines, “Get over them by getting under me”!
The album has a deluxe version that consists of 17 tracks with a running time of 58 minutes. One of the stand out tracks is, “La Memoria” very emotional track in Spanish. She sings some pretty deep shit! For those who don’t understand Spanish she is telling the guy who broke her heart that he needs to find someone like himself and lose in love to know what it feels to be heartbroken. She sings,”Te hace falta enamorarte de una perra/Te hace falta perder una guerra/Te hace falta encontrar una gemela/Que te quiebre el corazón/Que te deje en tu pena”. Really dope project go check it out!
