Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,
Today I will be reviewing KillcRey’s debut album as a solo artist titled, “Simple.” I am proud to call KillcRey my friend and mentor! I have interviewed him previously and one thing that stuck with me about that interview is he said, “I want to say the most profound things in the simplest ways.” That shit is deep! It reminds me of a Kendrick Lamar lyric, “My simplest shit be more pivotal!” KillcRey also has a futuristic sound and this project is a perfect example! He has created a unique cohesive sound for this project, it makes you feel like you are in outer space! The album from top to bottom is a musical journey. Very introspective album, like the first single, “Claustrophobic,” I interpreted it as being focused on one’s art and needing the space to create. In addition it sort of touches on battling the anxiety of feeling trapped in a confined space and trying to control it. The hooks are also very catchy. I have to say my favorite track is the single I mentioned above, the hook goes, “I don’t got no room in mi casa”. That line was stuck in my head and it is relatable because I literally don’t have room in mi casa lol. Dope project, do yourself a favor and put it on rotation! Support your local artists!
