NIGHTMARE ON SEDGWICK AVENUE – “THE ART OF SIMPLICITY”!!! KILLCREY – SIMPLE ALBUM REVIEW”

BY: 7 OCTOBERZ

SIMPLE

Artist: KillcRey

Album: Simple

Release Date: 2/21/2021

Buy/Stream: All Streaming on 2/21/2021 Pre-sale link below!

Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewing KillcRey’s debut album as a solo artist titled, “Simple.” I am proud to call KillcRey my friend and mentor! I have interviewed him previously and one thing that stuck with me about that interview is he said, “I want to say the most profound things in the simplest ways.” That shit is deep! It reminds me of a Kendrick Lamar lyric, “My simplest shit be more pivotal!” KillcRey also has a futuristic sound and this project is a perfect example! He has created a unique cohesive sound for this project, it makes you feel like you are in outer space! The album from top to bottom is a musical journey. Very introspective album, like the first single, “Claustrophobic,” I interpreted it as being focused on one’s art and needing the space to create. In addition it sort of touches on battling the anxiety of feeling trapped in a confined space and trying to control it. The hooks are also very catchy. I have to say my favorite track is the single I mentioned above, the hook goes, “I don’t got no room in mi casa”. That line was stuck in my head and it is relatable because I literally don’t have room in mi casa lol. Dope project, do yourself a favor and put it on rotation! Support your local artists!

Movie: In Search Of Darkness Part II (Horror Documentary)

Director/Writer: David A. Weiner

IMDB synopsis: “The follow-up to “In Search of Darkness” (2019) dives deeper into the practical-effects decade of ’80s horror movies with all-new interviews from genre icons and industry experts alongside the original cast.”

Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewing the highly anticipated sequel documentary, “In Search of Darkness Part II!” I saw the first one in 2019 and loved it! It was jammed packed with four hours of 80s horror history and it left me craving for more! Luckily they did a part II to keep us horror fans satisfied! I have been following the 80sHorrorDoc IG page and they announced they were accepting reviews for an early screening. I immediately jumped at the opportunity! I was fortunate enough to be able to screen this documentary before its release. I have to say this documentary out did itself once again. The documentary immediately dives back into the journey of 80s horror. It is done in a similar format as the first documentary where they go through horror movies from the 80s decade and separate them by year.

We also get more dope interviews from Iconic Horror Directors like John Carpenter, Stuart Gordon (R.I.P.), Joe Dante, Don Mancini and more. As well as horror Icons like Robert Englund, Tom Atkins, Barbara Crampton and the list goes on! We also get commentary from Horror content creators, special make up effects artists (Tom Savini, Greg Nicotero to name a few), celebrities who are fans of horror and more! They all give their unique perspectives on the films that are discussed and what they enjoy about the film.

This documentary even put me on game about horror movies I have never heard of like “Humanoids From the Deep, The Being, Razorback,” and even controversial fake snuff film series “Faces of Death.” I loved how the documentary was separated into sections like 80s Italian Invasion, Demon Seeds, The Craft of Horror acting, Anti-Heroes and more. In Search of Darkness Part II is filled with 4 hours of pure Horror trivia! It is a must watch for any Horror fan to nerd over! Turn off the lights, get your popcorn ready and get ready to go on a Horror adventure ride! You can buy your copy at the link above!

Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewing the latest project of UK artist Frisco Boogie. The project is titled, “Rainbows In The Rubble” that just dropped a few days ago. I loved the intro track it sounded like a spoken word track. I really enjoyed the sounds of the rain/thunder and birds chirping it was very poetic. The sound effects gave it a cinematic feel and painted a picture of what to expect on the following tracks. This is a dope concept album that discusses very relatable topics and brilliant storytelling. Frisco’s words paint beautiful pictures! He also produced this project which is very impressive! The production is filled with dope boombap beats. The stand out tracks for me where, “Survival”, “B.A.R.S”, “White Feather” and “Rainbows In The Rubble”. It is a great project go give it a listen!

Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewing Rob Markman’s third project, “If You Don’t You’ll Regret It”. I had the honor of interviewing him and reciting some of his lyrics back to him which was an epic moment for me lol! I’ve been a fan of his journalism and interviews for the longest. I always found it dope that he asked unique questions and is a student of the game (Hip Hop). The interview link is below if you want to hear a bit more about the inspiration for some of the tracks on this project and more!

Rob has proved to be a talented emcee with a strong pen game! Last year, starting Feb 1st he dropped a single every 1st and 15th! He has now blessed us with his third album. This project is very inspirational, I can relate to a lot of what he raps! There are no skippable tracks. All the tracks are cohesive and are filled with dope lyricism! This is a project for any Hip Hop fan. There is a record for everyone on this album! Rob is a very versatile rapper; you get storytelling, fuck the haters anthems, a love track, songs with bars and ill production! This whole project is meant to put you in your zone, motivate you to follow your dreams and just go for it! Don’t miss your opportunity to do something you love because later you might regret it! Go stream or buy this album! Don’t sleep on it, support the fam!

BY: 7 OCTOBERZ

cover

Artist: MindFrame x Primo Jab

Album: The Danger Room

Release Date: 1/22/2021

Buy/Stream: Bandcamp

Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewing the homies latest project, “The Danger Room”. This project features production by my fam MindFrame who is one of the dopest and hardest working producers I know and have had the honor of working with! MindFrame always puts quality work and drops several projects throughout the year! This project is no different! He joined forces with emcee Primo Jab and they make a Superhero Duo! The first track, “Nimrod” sets the tone for the whole project! MindFrame told me he sampled one of his favorite movies, “The Crow” on the intro track, which is the killer electric guitar you hear! This project is filled with boom bap grimey beats and ill lyricism! The stand out track for me is the last track, “Mr. Sinister”! The hook is catchy and creative word play! Go check out this project!

NIGHTMARE ON SEDGWICK AVENUE – “BRINGIN THE RICHEST RHYMES!!! RICC – 24: DA COALECTION VOL. 1 EP REVIEW”

BY: 7 OCTOBERZ

image0.jpg

Artist: RiCC

Album: 24: Da COALection, Vol. 1

Release Date: 12/24/2020

Buy/Stream: All Streaming

Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewing San Diego’s very own RiCC who is part of the 8400 rap crew! He dropped his latest EP, “24: Da COALection, Vol. 1” in December. The project consists of 6 tracks with a running time of about 20 minutes. Even though it is a short project it gives it a repeat value and addresses various relatable topics. RiCC raps about wanting a Queen by his side to ride or die by his side. Then you get a track like “Envy” featuring San Diego local rapper Mark X and they talk about jealousy and the negative side to being envious. The stand out track for me was, “Tired” a very introspective track about RiCC battling his demons and other struggles. Dope track that I can relate to. We all have those days where we are tired of it all and want to just give up, but we gotta keep on moving! Go check out this project!

Thank you for reading my EP review. Hope you all enjoyed it! Until next time horror fiends and hip hop heads! While you’re at it follow my blog on social media @7octoberz on Instagram and Facebook! Also follow me on YouTube and IGtv to watch my podcast Nightmare on Sedgwick Avenue.

NIGHTMARE ON SEDGWICK AVENUE – “BEAUTY IN THE PAIN!!! RJ PAYNE – BEAUTIFUL PAYNE 3 EP REVIEW”

BY: 7 OCTOBERZ

cover

Artist: RJ Payne

Album: Beautiful Payne 3

Release Date: 1/29/2021

Buy/Stream: All Streaming

Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewing the latest project to RJ Payne’s trilogy, “Beautiful Payne 3”. This is another dope cohesive introspective EP! He once again proves why he is one of the top 5 emcees of this era! Every lyric is bold and witty as we all know him to be! I love the concept of this series, where its him at sort of a therapy session and dropping gems! In tracks like “Do It Yourself” he gives advice on staying the independent route and the importance of owning your masters to not be a slave to these record labels. Then on “Supermans Curse” he raps how its lonely at the top, even though you have it all sometimes you might just end up alone! The whole EP is fucking dope! Just when I thought Payne couldn’t out do himself he proves me wrong! Top lyricist in my book! Go support this project whether you stream it or buy it!
