Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,
Today I will be reviewing Hanzo Bladez’ debut EP, “Birds of Prey”. The intro is hard as fuck with a clip from The Crow movie. It definitely sets the tone for this grimey project and the theme! The EP cover is dope as well, there is a graveyard with a mic, the crow and hands coming out of the grave! The EP consists of 7 deadly venomous tracks with an approximate running time of 22 minutes. Hanzo self produced some of his track, but also features production from Enels and Iron Lungz. One of the stand out tracks to me was, “The Feared One”! Hanzo goes in bar for bar and the beat is crazy with the dope scratches and sample.
Then there is the following track, “Drum Machine” with a more melancholy beat as Hanzo raps about legacy and making music with the greats! This project brought me back to that 90’s grimey rap. It is a very nostalgic EP. It’s great to continue to hear this sound being nourished! From top to bottom this a great body of work. It is a very dope project. Go check it out and support that lyrical grimey Hip Hop!
